Uptown Contemporary Cottage
An assortment of brightly colored cottages line this historic block in one of our favorite downtown neighborhoods and it’s hard to keep from smiling when you see them. Pop up front porch parties, chatting on the sidewalk, getting together to catch up on city news – life here is deliberately low key and the residents love it.
With coffee in hand, you can watch the sunrise from the porch at #72 and then again with cocktails in the evening as the moon comes into view. Whoever said, “good things come in small packages,” was right! Step inside and check out the very generous living room with its soaring ceiling and columned entrance to the kitchen. Diffused natural light gives the room a soft glow throughout the day. The en-suite bedroom is on the south side and it’s a large space with room for a sitting area or micro-office.
An efficient kitchen gets the job done when staying home is on the menu and you have the option of eating in the small adjacent dining room or dining al fresco on the brick courtyard out back. Within 2 blocks, there are several indie eateries, a bodega which has become the go-to for all sorts of tasty treats and beverages, a jazz club, a wine cave, cupcakes, flowers and some very cool retail shops, not to mention 2 excellent coffee houses replete with pastries and 2 ice cream shops. Park the car, grab your bikes and learn about uptown and downtown St Augustine from the slow lane.
