GORGEOUS Panoramic Views of the Marsh

Born in 1972 as a fishing shack for weekend use, a craftsman bought it in 2004 and rebuilt it from stem to stern in 2005. Think Florida Cracker vernacular with a distinctly contemporary flavor. Oriented to the east looking over the marsh to Land’s End, the house and detached garage sit on the land side while a 50’x 110′ lot with a dock perched on the marsh is waiting for you to launch your kayak, canoe or flat bottomed skiff. Or you can relax on the built-in benches and cast for a fish dinner. Turn your head back towards the house and see one of the finest porches ever.

Thanks to tempered glass panels the view is unobstructed and the deep eaves make it possible to enjoy a rainstorm out here. The screened portion is perfect for al fresco meals and there’s an outdoor kitchen plumbed and vented for water and gas inside the double closet. Your favorite music comes through the outdoor speakers and you’ll quickly become the favorite host.

Inside the great room really is just that. One wall is anchored by the custom cherry, maple and black granite media center spanning 19′ and the short wall features a glass tile and split travertine fireplace designed and built by Thomas Long. Everything else is windows looking at the marsh and a stately live oak. Ample cabinets and counterspace make cooking easy and you can enjoy the view through the screened porch.

En-suite, the master has a private deck with outdoor shower and hot tub. With graceful palms as a backdrop you’ll forget you’re not on holiday. Down the hall a large second bedroom is just across from a central full bath. Just off the kitchen and past the side door to the patio, a small en-suite currently used as an office makes for a cozy in-law/guest suite for extended stay residents. Built-in bunk, shelving and disappearing desk were crafted by the carpenter who built the kitchen.

A patio out back is tucked between house and garage and the 15KW gas generator is hidden behind the landscaping. It’s a magical place indeed.
