NORTH CITY COTTAGE

It’s a cupcake from the outside and with some renovations, the interior can be just what you want it to be! Start out by admiring the excellent wraparound porch because this will be the first of two outdoor living rooms at this downtown cottage. With a deep overhang you can enjoy a rainy day outside and stay dry. Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a small sunroom which floods the area with natural light and makes for a wonderful spot to catch up with your favorite book or visitor.

The living room has a dramatic vaulted ceiling clad in a honey-hued wood and it really makes the room. Furniture groupings can incorporate the sunroom or keep them separate as you wish. The dining enjoys the same lofty ceiling and has easy access to the gathering areas and the kitchen. A compact kitchen, it can be expanded easily as it currently has room for a breakfast table and then some. A central bedroom with wood floor has a wall full of built-ins so you can keep things handy and tidy simultaneously. You can make an en-suite by closing off one of the two doors in the central bathroom. Just off the “master” is a cozy 13′ x 5.6′ office with built-in storage so you just need to plug in the laptop and get to work.

A later addition added a long hallway along the north side, a hall bath and two rooms across the rear. Here is where your imagination comes into play so decide what you need and want and get the renovation underway. The southern room opens to a 19′ x 13′ wood deck where you can get your daily dose of Vitamin D and contemplate a cookout or plan your spring garden (it’s that time!).

A picket fence is the perfect complement to the cottage style and it will keep your pets nicely contained in one place. The off-street parking is on the north side and there’s room for at least two cars and you can carry your groceries right into the kitchen from the small side deck. The nice thing is you can move in and enjoy the original portion of the house while you work on the changes you want to make to the back. Loring Street is a secret street running between Cincinnati and Grove Avenues and it’s two blocks to the city gates. Biking, walking, taking in all the events at nearby Francis Field, the location is terrific and you’ll not want for activities if you can tear yourself away from that front porch!
