Flagler College ranked among the best in South

Another First Coast institution of higher learning has made the U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Regional Colleges in the South.

Flagler College has been ranked 10th in the South by the guide, according to a release from the school. More than 1,600 schools across America are on the list.

“I am very pleased with our ranking by U.S. News and World Report,” said Dr. William T. Abare, Jr., president of Flagler College. “It is a significant achievement for Flagler to be ranked among the top regional colleges in the south by this prestigious national publication.”

The newest distinction ranks schools against their peer group in their geographic region. The four regions for the judging are North, South, Midwest and West.

The rankings by U.S. News & World Report are computed using measures of academic quality provided by the schools and assessments by leaders at peer institutions. The data categories used include student/faculty ratio, class size, graduation rate, percentage of full-time faculty, student selectivity, average SAT/ACT scores, percentage of highly ranked freshmen, alumni giving rate and others.

Jacksonville University is ranked in the America’s Best Colleges category, while the University of North Florida is on the Best Regional University list. Both are in Jacksonville.
