ARTS & CRAFTS BUNGALOW WITH GUEST HOUSE

Circa 1912, this Arts and Crafts bungalow was designed by renowned architect, Fred Henderich for a family member and it remains the signature bungalow in the Historic District. His trademark use of paired native palm columns which he employed as porch posts is represented on the broad wraparound porch and those Sabal palmettos add texture and architectural depth to the traditional cypress shingles cladding the house. Period colors complement each other nicely and make the crisp detail stand out.

Do not allow your eyes to be fooled, this inviting bungalow offers over 2,000 fully renovated square feet in the main house in addition to the guest house above the detached garage. Honey-hued wood floors are offset by the 3/4 tall heart pine wainscot and beamed ceilings in the living and dining rooms. Never painted (exceedingly rare), the rich patina of the woodwork warms the rooms. Arrange your furniture around the coquina fireplace and long for chilly evenings so you can gather around it.

An Arroyo Craftsman fixture will bathe your dining room in soft light so every meal will be a special occasion and when you see the kitchen you’ll renew your enthusiasm about cooking. A walled garden surrounds the pool set in a coquina concrete deck and the plantings continue the Arts & Crafts theme of flowering plants and flowing lines. A two-story palm colonnade accents the garage and guest house built in 2000. An open wooden ceiling gives a tree-house flavor to the guest quarters which includes a full bath. A private deck overlooks the garden and you’ll not want for company. Instant gratification is almost impossible to find but take heart because you have.
